  1. Trullo Incanto d’Itria Resort — Alberobello, Italy

A great location in a beautiful setting, 30 mins to the sea, and a personal concierge service known as a “Guest Angel” completely dedicated to you and your needs — Trullo Incanto d’Itria Resort has it all.

It is a complex of traditional Trulli with modern amenities that offer the best outdoor living and make you feel like you have your own private resort. A trullo is a traditional Apulian dry stone hut with a conical roof. This style of construction is specific to this region of Italy and makes the stay even more unique. The extensive gardens are beautifully landscaped and feature ancient olive trees to make for the ultimate escape in paradise. Trullo Incanto d’Itria Resort has a fully equipped outdoor kitchen, so you can do all your cooking and embrace the outdoor living style.

    2. ICEHOTEL — Jukkasjärvi, Sweden

Spending a night in the freezing cold is not a choice many people would make, but it makes for a unique, unforgettable experience. The ICEHOTEL was founded in 1989 and is completely reconstructed every year using snow, ice, and “snice” (a combination of water, air, and snow) from the nearby Torne River and they leave it to melt every spring. It’s a unique and ephemeral beauty of rooms and suites that border on an art installation as each of the 65 rooms and suites are sculpted by different artists.

Sleeping in one of the ICEHOTEL rooms is something you’ll remember forever because they are kept at -5 Celsius day and night. They give you thermals, boots, and a very thick sleeping bag and you lay down to sleep on a reindeer pelt. But don’t worry if the cold gets to be too much for you, there are designated ‘warm rooms’ throughout the property. These ‘warm rooms’ house a lounge area, bathrooms, and saunas and are open 24/7.

5. Berggasthaus Aescher Wildkirchli — Wasserauen, Switzerland

This 170-year-old Swiss guesthouse is literally built into a cliff, and its back wall comprises the rock itself, which makes it the most bizarre hotel on this list. Its precarious perch makes it difficult to get to, and it’s only accessible after a steep hike along a mountain path or via cable car. The owners used a helicopter to bring a piano into the living room! It was originally a home for farmers and guests have been staying at it since 1940. Nearby are the Wildkirchli Caves, which also make for great exploration.

Stunning architecture, sustainable development, and a beautiful pool and champagne in the morning make this hotel stand out on the list and a perfect holiday for those wanting to reduce their environmental impact.

The PARKROYAL Pickering boasts 15,000 square meters of greenery and prides itself on being eco-friendly. It uses rainwater collected from the upper floors to trickle down and keep everything fresh and solar cells absorb sunlight during the day and use it to power the landscape lighting at night. There is minimal strain on air-conditioning because vertical greenery shields the west-facing walls.

The PARKROYAL Pickering has even increased the area’s biodiversity by attracting birds and butterflies with its sky gardens draped with tropical flora. It truly is a unique sight in the middle of downtown Singapore.
